GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR NFB-NEWSLINE TUTORIAL General goals for students using NFB-NEWSLINE Tutorial: The Student Will (TSW): 1. Learn about world, national, state and local news. 2. Become aware of employment opportunities. 3. Learn about events in his/her community that he/she may wish to participate in. 4. Gain information regarding health issues. Criteria for success in Lessons 1-8 = 4 of 5 times as attempted by student Objectives for Lesson 1: 1. TSW enter 6 digit ID# correctly. 2. TSW correctly choose desired newspaper. 3. TSW choose desired issue of paper. Objectives for Lesson 2: 1. TSW choose desired article. 2. TSW return to skipped article. 3. TSW reread sentences. 4. TSW pause and resume. Objectives for Lesson 3: 1. TSW select non local newspaper. 2. TSW select issue of non local newspaper. 3. TSW select and read article of non local newspaper. Objectives for Lesson 4: 1. TSW set personal preference. 2. TSW select volume of voice. 3. TSW set pitch of voice. 4. TSW set speed of voice. Objective for Lesson 5: TSW create favorites list of 6 papers. Objective for Lesson 6: TSW use * key, **key, and # key to choose paper and navigate through articles. Objective for Lesson 7: TSW look for specific word/phrase/subject in newspaper. Objective for Lesson 8: TSW enter Spell Mode and understand difficult word(s).
