2016 Resolutions

2016 Resolutions

The official policy statements of the National Federation of the Blind of Michigan are established every year with annual resolutions adopted at the state convention.

The resolutions committee meets early during the convention. Each proposed resolution is read, spoken for by the authoring member, considered, and then ultimately withdrawn or recommended for passage or disapproval by the Convention.

Resolution 2016-01: Regarding the Michigan Commission for the blind

Whereas blind people founded the National Federation of the blind in 1940, as a means of achieving Opportunity equality and security; and

Whereas most blind people have not achieved these things yet; and

Whereas we, blind people have found that state "Commissions for the blind" are the most effective way to teach blind people the "skills of blindness" which we must learn in order for us to work and create Opportunity equality and security for ourselves: Now, therefore,

Be it resolved, in convention assembled, by the National Federation of the Blind of Michigan on this sixth day of November, 2016, that the immediate reestablishment of the "Michigan Commission for the blind", with all the powers and responsibilities set forth in public act 260, is essential to our well-being; and

Be it further resolve that we will take all steps necessary to achieving the reestablishment of the Michigan Commission for the blind, with all deliberate speed.
